My Wedding Accessories!

Got my lovely shoes at Leaping Lizard today. They were custom made to fit my feet perfectly. I didn't even know that I would have to go for shoe fittings! hehe...in the end I went down twice before they finally got the fitting perfect. Actually I got plain shoes with no crystal trimming and added my own. Saved quite a bit DIY-ing the trim. Just hope they don't get too dirty on my photoshoot before the wedding. Haha, n I used double sided tape to stick them on, so hopefully they don't fall out!

This is my ring pillow! I made it myself! The rings are suspended on wires so they stick out of the flower. Quite unique I think.

My very first tutorial!

This is my very first nail art tutorial, so please bear with me if its not too clear. The photography is much more difficult than I imagined. Kinda hard to take pics when my nails are still wet. Got abit of paint on my camera..hehe. Oh well..hope u likey:)

(This may be abit complicated for beginners. Maybe I should have started with a simpler tutorial...I'm having my second fitting tomorrow n I wanted to try out a design I might use for my wedding :P hehe..sorry!)

1. Start off with filing your nails into your preferred shape. I prefer squarish nails myself cos I think it looks nice n neat.

2. Paint one coat of any nude or light coloured polish.

3. Squeeze a little white acrylic paint onto a palette. Various brands of acrylic paint can be bought at any art store.

Cut off a small piece of sponge
(any kitchen/ make-up sponge will do...different textured sponges will give different results. Basically, Fine sponge=fine texture, Coarse sponge=rough texture *duh!* hehe)

4. Using your thumb n index finger, squeeze the small piece of sponge into a roundish shape.

Dab into the paint.

Do a few test dabs on a piece of paper first until the paint thickness is consistent.

5. Using the same dabbing motion, apply the paint onto the tips only.

Start at the ends and dab inwards. You can vary how hard you press down the sponge to transfer more or less paint. Press harder at the tips, n lighter as you move inwards to get a fading pattern.

Don't worry about getting paint on the sides.

The paint texture on your nails may look a little rough now, but its ok.

6. Wrap an orange stick with cotton wool and dip it in polish remover to clean the sides. (I dunno why its called an orange stick, but its pretty useful n cheap too. Can be bought from most shops like Watsons at the manicure section.)

I prefer to buy a 'roll' of loose cotton wool rather than cotton pads cos I find it lasts longer this way n I can pull out whatever I need from the pack. I can also stick the orange stick in and twirl it to wrap the cotton around it.

7. After cleaning the sides. Add one more coat of the same nude polish.

8. Add one coat of FINE glitter polish.

9. Add one coat of COARSE glitter polish to bottom half of nails only.

*Just to show what the different sized glitter polish looks like.*

10. Using the 3D Nail art kit I bought I will add a rose to one of my nails. Basically its quite simple :dip the brush into the liquid, then dip into the powder.

Takes alot of trial n error to get this techniqe right. eg. if u want bigger flowers, the brush must be wetter so that when you dip into the powder, a bigger 'ball' will form. Vice versa, if u want smaller flowers, dip in the liquid but slide the brush against the cap to remove excess liquid so it won't pick up so much powder, hence u get a smaller 'ball' to work with.

If all else fails, a rose nail art sticker is also nice. N nowadays they have 3D stickers too! So if you want to save the hassle of all this liquid n powder, I think stickers are nice too.

11. Illustration of how to build up a rose flower step-by-step.

12. Add a layer of top coat n whilst nails are still wet, apply various crystals to your nails. Here I randomly stuck on 1-3 crystals on each nail.

I use Swarovski crystals bought from Arab Street. The 'picker' you see in the top right hand of the pic was bought online. Its like a plastic stick with a knob of soft wax on the end. The wax can be shaped to pick big n small gems. The wax is sticky, so when u touch it to a crystal, the crystal will just stick on. Very very useful! If not a tweezer will also do, more 'le-chay' but still can do.

13. Top off with one final layer of top coat! Whew almost there!

14. VOILA! Sit back n admire your BEAUTIFUL nails!

Quick & Simple!

Even if I am lazy or tired...I just have to do my nails. This is something quick & simple. Done in 10 mins flat but still pretty. Just get a nude base..these are the easiest to paint because even if some get on the sides, u can't really see it. N even if it chips, can't really tell either. Then paint the tips a glitter polish (get the thick kind w alot of glitter, then u will need only 1 coat. Some have so little glitter that u can hardly see it. Mine is from Fasio). Doesn't have to be dead straight, just use 3 strokes, center n 2 sides. Finally top with sheer glitter top coat. DONE!

vvvvvvvvvvvvvv

Still many many!

A couple more....cute flowers!

...& loads of glitter & shine!

Many many many!

Introducing my latest creations! I've accumulated loads of new polish n a set of acrylic paints to paint on the patterns. I will try to add some tutorials on how to do the nails asap:)

Aren't they all lovely lovely? *thick-skinned* ok-la..some r kinda 'off' but overall I LOVE them!

It's been a long long time. Been kinda lazy & busy with other stuff. (new house n wedding) Sometimes I have so many ideas n not enough fingernails, so I decided to paint them on fake nails that I can keep n refer to next time. hehe..they fit perfectly into an empty CD casing. How perfect! I can stack them up n it keeps the dust out. Just need a little blue-tack to stick them on. Anyhow here are a load of fancy designs I came up with. Some of the designs are so lovely I wish I could paint it on my own nails..but alas the pretty ones are usually too intricate for me to do using my left hand. So I usually do my toes more elaborately n keep my nails 'simple'. By 'simple I mean still sparkly but with less 3D art than I would have wanted. hehe...just cannot get by with plain nails:P

Leopard Print Nails

A fun leopard print with glitter top-coat and 3-D red heart nail-art. Cute! The leopard prints were hand painted using acrylic paints and a tiny paint brush available at any art store. I got mine at Art-Friend at Bras Basah.

My Bejwelled Toes

Did a really sparkly one for my toes this time. Really pretty..but I've become very careful with my toes, afraid I might scratch off the gems. Oh well..lets see how long this lasts. The pink fading base matches it nicely too.

I went to the Beauty Expo at Suntec...it had loads of stuff. Tons of nail stuff and lots of scary looking machines they use at beauty salons to firm up cellulite/ tone your skin/ aka to make one more beautiful...makes me wonder if any of these machines are actually certified? After all its used on your body and face with dunno what special lasers and gamma rays etc...does anyone actually check on these? Dunno if you will end up harming your body in the future. And alot of the time...these machines are made in China. U'de rather buy a TV thats made in Japan, but a machine to use on your body and face at the salons...do you know where they are made or what they actually do?? Scary man....
Oh and I went for my first meeting with Dang Bridal today. She let me try on a few dresses and helped me design mine. So I decided I'm going to have only 2 gowns. One cheongsum style and one traditional wedding gown. Gonna wear my cheongsum for the tea ceremony and the gown for most of the wedding. No evening gown...might change into my cheongsum at the end of the wedding to say bye-bye to the guests. Will decide later. So now have to wait till end April for my first fitting...wah such a long time more. Waiting....Kan-chiong....

Gong Xi Fa Cai!

CNY 2007 is here! This year was a little different for me, past years I would usually just go to my grandma house, have lunch, lay around & wait for people to come n visit. After the people leave...the closer family who stay behind will start to doze off on the sofa or..get this..fall asleep on the King-sized mattress in the middle of the living room! Been kinda a tradition since a few years back when my dad dragged out the mattress to lay on while watching TV. So now...its a permanent fixture for our CNY gatherings. Too bad I got no pic. But while I was searching thru my pics..I came upon this pic of my brother who fell asleep on the sofa after our reunion dinner last year. FUNNY! hehehe...

Veered off abit there...

...this CNY I had to do quite abit of visiting following my hubby & his family around. They have quite a big extended family so we went to quite a few places. Let me tell u, a cheongsum is not comfy in non-airconditioned places after you've eaten a hundred pineapple tarts, a few thousand 'Hae-bi-Hiam' and a whole ton of other rubbish! I had to keep tugging and pulling to keep the skirt down...n the top up. I'm more used to big flowy styles where I can sit any way I like and not 'zhao-geng' to all the uncles & aunties. But..it did look nice. So once a year is ok la.

Oh ya...n my hubby even wanted me to buy the smaller size cheongsum. When I tried it on, it was super tight-fit..like cannot even sit down. Lucky I chose the bigger one in the end. Must make allowance for CNY food. There's nothing to do but EAT n SMILE when you are visiting people you don't know. They will keep saying "Please help yourself!" so I help lor..I just munched away non-stop.

ya...n I forgot to take a pic of my nails. So I included a close up here. The flowers are pretty lasting..still perfectly ok till now. Most of the jewels have fallen off. I'm so proud of myself (thick skinned)...I even managed to do the flowers on my left hand.

3-D Pink Flowers

Did loads of nails during CNY. Helped my aunts, grandma, etc. end of the day my fingers were cramping. Too bad only managed to take pic of these 2 done for my boyfriend's sisters. Quite nice..managed to practice quite a bit.

I let them choose from a nail art book and tried my best to copy it. Merrina chose a pink gradation glitter base with some daisy like flowers.

Melissa chose a light pink glitter base with hibiscus like flowers.

Chinese New Year is Coming!

CNY is coming! Better make the most of it! Next year have to start giving Ang Pao..*Heart pain* hehee...Just got so used to receiving and not giving. Wah lau...I have to give my unmarried cousins Ang Pao! So weird!

I did my toe nails to match my Cheongsum that I got from Chinatown. I think I kinda got the hang of using the 3D Kit. Not too bad :) Haven't done my nails yet. Will do it the night before..don't want any gems or petals to fall off. (Just remembered I have to go buy a pair of red undies..haha..funny man! My mother-in-law got my hubby red briefs for good luck so I should get some too.)
Nice? I put abit of gold glitter polish on the tips to match the gold on my dress. Base is pastel purple plus a couple of gems here n there...

Purple Glittery Hearts

Quite a simple one to do. Pale purple base with dark purple glitter for tips. Add a layer of clear glitter polish with hearts and finally top off with another layer of glitter only.

I also added a 3D ribbon and some dots after I found the kit. Not too bad.

Cute neh!

Look What I Found!

Always been curious about 3D nail art...u know the kind u see in japanese magazines where the girls have really crazy nails with lots of flowers and stuff. Well, I found this 3D kit from a cart store at Junction 8....it had loads of other nail related stuff. Alot of really nice nail stickers, jewels..etc. A bit ex though...this kit cost me$49.90. :( Oh well...been looking for quite a while. And the instructions are all in Japanese! Ai yo! So I just follow the pics and try try. Quite difficult to get the right shape and consistency...more practice for me.

Oh yah...n the liquid is seriously smelly! It stinks of super strong alcohol. Actually, after a while you get used to the smell n its not too bad. My boyfriend is convinced I will get alcohol poisoning from inhaling the fumes n forced me to open my windows when doing it. Didn't really want to cos all the bugs n mosquitoes will fly in. No choice.

The kit comes with 3 different colours and a small brush. And...more instructions in JAPANESE!

Here's a series of practice attempts I made. Ya..n I used a Nail art magazine for the backing as inspiration to follow. Will keep u updated on my progress.

My New Toy!

Wah haha....told you I couldn't resist a plain mobile! Hehe..this time I got it wrapped at G-Mask first before I stuck on the crystals. So I can trade it in next time. Just peel off the plastic & the phone is like brand new inside. But cost me $38! eeyeh..what to do?

Decided on a rainbow coloured theme this time. Very sweet and yummy looking...like candy colours. Also made a matching strap for it. Love it! Wait till my boyfriend sees it! (Ya I know I sometimes refer to him as my baby/ hubby/ boyfriend..all the same, just getting used to it, we're getting married on 20th Oct 2007 :)

& of course I just have to add the furry ball.

Just to be more drama, I added this before & after pic to show you what my phone looked like before. I think I got addiction to shiny stuff. Before you start imagining me wearing bright sequinned tops, disco ball earrings and furry heels strutting down Orchard road, let me clarify that my dressing is actually quite the opposite. I like to wear neutral shades like white & lots of brown. I'm not 5 yrs old anymore, a top to toe sparkly pink look is just not me. Yeah...I still like some embrioded (umm..how to spell ah?) beads & jewels..but not too much.

But!...that means I can go crazy with my nails, camera, mobile, thumbdrive, ERP cover (seriously!)...alot of my stuff is super blinged out and sparkly! Don't know why man...ever since I can remember..I've always been attracted to anything that is shiny.

Hello Kitty EVA Air Plane

Adeline got this for me from an EVA Air flight. So cute! Eva Air has this Hello Kitty themed plane where everything is Hello Kitty! Like everything! (heaven!) hehe...seriously, I went to check it out online and even your food has Hello Kitty in it. It had a fish cake thing that was shaped like Hello Kitty's head!

Hopefully, if my plans come through...I will be taking this plane with my hubby for our honeymoon! haha...think he will just faint when he sees all the Hello Kitty stuff! Gosh I can't wait:))

*****Here are some pics for u to feast your eyes*****
